Footage of a drunken man caught cuddling his cat on doorbell cam has taken over the internet, with TikTok users dubbing the video both “pure” and “hilarious.”
The clip was shared to the platform on September 11 by @_thegeorges, a joint account run by married couple Ethan and Ke, and the video has received almost 650,000 likes and more than 21,000 shares.
More Smart Doorbells Mean More Hilarity
As the number of people working from home increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, so did sales of smart home devices. The global doorbell camera market is estimated to reach £4.6 billion a year by 2031.
In February 2022, homecare brand Hippo surveyed 1,000 Americans to find out more about the smart devices they use and why, with 16 percent using smart devices for security purposes and 17 percent for watching their home while they are away.
When asked which devices respondents believe offer the most protection, 34 percent said fire or theft alarms, followed by security cameras (31 percent) and video doorbells (16 percent).
However, doorbell cameras and other smart devices have also provided their fair share of entertainment in recent years—from capturing sneaky goats “ding dong ditching” their neighbor to immortalising pranks pulled on mothers-in-law.
‘Treasure Him’
After drunkenly ringing the front doorbell, Ethan holds the family cat up to the camera and then starts nuzzling the unamused feline.
“I love you so much,” Ethan says in slurred baby talk. “You’re my sweetheart, aren’t you? Such a good-looking, beautiful girl.”
TikTokers couldn’t get enough of the footage, with Nocturnia calling Ethan “a keeper,” while Rose Morris wrote: “Treasure him, he’s a good guy.”
“Men who love animals are so pure,” commented rebekka strehlow, while kirsty wrote: “[It was] the kiddy giggles [that] got me.”
Others put themselves in the cat’s position, with user252772586980 believing the struggling pet was “embarrassed.”
“The cat is like ‘I hope the other cats in the neighborhood don’t see me… mom open quick,’” wrote Danzo.
“[The] cat thinking like ’not this again am soo done,’” commented user4636360991037, while evalita_lol wrote: “I swear the cat’s soul left its body at least twice!!”
Rnng77edits found the clip highly relatable, writing: “This is literally me every time i get home and see my cat.. Sober.”
