MORE: Suspensions, injuries hurt Hoosiers’ chances

The road to recovery is not over for Davis. He’ll still have to do some physical therapy, but he’ll no longer have to stay at the hospital for monitoring.

Davis’ teammate, freshman Emmitt Holt, had dropped him off in a parking lot near the football stadium on campus when Davis inexplicably jumped into the road, according to police reports. Holt was cited for misdemeanor underage drinking, and Davis was found to be at fault for the accident.

It is not known when Davis will return to the Hoosiers’ lineup, if at all this season.

Holt told ESPN.com’s Dana O’Neil the incident “probably changed my life forever. It actually did change my life forever.”

“When I went to visit (Davis) in the hospital for the first time it was like . . . it was . . . crazy,” Holt said. “Then when we talked the first time, I don’t want to go into great detail, but he was trying to comfort me, telling me it wasn’t my fault. But deep down, I’ll always feel like it was my fault. It was one of those moments where you realize you have to be a better person.”
