The Udinese and Iceland midfielder had reason to celebrate this week after helping his nation clinch their first-ever World Cup berth, becoming in turn the smallest country ever to qualify for a finals.

And he chose to mark that historic moment with a game of naked chess, as he donned just a pair of red slippers for the ancient board game.

“The art of chess wearing shoes,” Hallfredsson wrote on his Instagram to explain the picture, as he looked extremely focused - and extremely short of clothing - in the game.
