He acknowledged after winning, “achha lag raha hai (It feels good). The right win at the right time. I have nothing to say to the critics. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It is all part of football.I am already thinking about the next match.”
He gave all the credit to his players and chose to play down his role in lifting the performance of his players.
“I said nothing special. It was the usual team talk. They put in efforts and played well. All credit to them. I just wanted to rotate my squad so that everbody gets a chance. There was no other idea behind the five changes,” said Jamil.
He continued to defend striker Willis Plaza even after the Trinidadian open his account in the I-League this season.
“We only think about the result. We got three points and that is the most important thing. Everyone played well including Plaza,” was his response to queries on Plaza’s form.
Laldanmawia Ralte could have netted a hat-trick hero if he was allowed to take the late penalty which eventually Katsumi Yusa converted to score the fifth for East Bengal.
