GAME PREVIEW

Minerva Punjab have enjoyed a fine start to this season’s I-League after finishing second from bottom last season. After three games in the ongoing season, they find themselves joint top with Mohun Bagan, only trailing the Mariners on the table on goal difference.

Having held Bagan in the season opener, Minerva went on to defeat NEROCA FC before downing the Indian Arrows in their previous game. Striker William Asiedu and Bhutanese recruit Chencho Gyeltshen have been playing well with the former grabbing a brace in the game against Arrows.

Coach Khogen Singh will want nothing less than three points against Chennai City on Monday, given the relative form of both sides.

Chennai City has had a bumpy start to the league, managing to pick up only a single point from their two games so far. The team, bereft of last year’s stars, has looked out of sorts and fell to a defeat to a young Indian Arrows side before holding I-League debutants Gokulam FC in Kozhikode.

V Soundararajan will be counting on captain Michael Soosai Raj and striker Jean Michael Joachim to deliver against a Minerva team which is on a high.

Will we see Chennai City gain their first win of the new season or will Minerva Punjab continue their strong start to the season?
