Jamil was furious with his team’s defence of set pieces and did not hold back words while criticizing them.
“We conceded a silly goal. The marking was not proper. It was a total defensive lapse. Whoever was in-charge of marking Kingsley inside the box didn’t do his job,” said an infuriated Jamil after the match.
“It is not about the performance. We have lost vital points. Performance is okay but it was important to win and get the points. We also got good chances to score. (Willis) Plaza got one chance but could not score. It happens as strikers may have a bad day when they miss chances,” said Jamil.
The Red and Gold coach was all praise for Mohun Bagan but also added that the derby defeat was unfortunate.
“They played well. We started well but they took over in the middle. Unfortunately, [we] conceded from a set piece. We practised really hard. It was disappointing. But this is football, you have to concentrate,” rued Jamil.
