One of the many methods to madness he has employed this season is the “YES! YES! YES” chant a la WWE superstar Daniel Bryan. Following the Giants’ NL wild-card game victory over the Pirates, Pence led his teammates in a rousing rendition of the chant in the visitors’ locker room at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

On Monday, Pence got a chance to meet with the man responsible for the chant.

Pence’s teammate Tyler Colvin, a big professional wrestling fan, came up with the idea along with Pence during the offseason, and following an early season home run, Pence, Colvin and Michael Morse all performed the move, which eventually caught on in the dugout.

Bryan said he loves it. He was made aware of the celebration shortly after the Giants started doing it.

“It’s crazy. I’m just some small-town guy from Aberdeen, Washington just doing my wrestling thing,” he said, laughing. “You see it being done by 40,000 people and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ It was awesome.”

It became a dugout tradition for the Giants, and after the last home game of the regular season, Pence was given a microphone in the middle of the field and asked the fans if they wanted to see the Giants play another home game after the wild-card game.

“Yes! Yes! Yes!” he said, leading a park-wide chant. “That’s what I’m talking about.”
