Water levels at the Grace Family Cemetery reached 5 feet high when the state was hit by flooding earlier this month, knocking gravestones askew and destroying the picket fencing, the Cape Lookout National Seashore branch of the National Park Service said in a Facebook post this week. Governor Brian Kemp signed an executive order Tuesday issuing a state of emergency in every county in preparation for the storm’s impact later this week. The declaration states that the storm has the potential to produce severe impacts to citizens throughout the southeast coastal region of the U.S., including Georgia.
